This paper describes a pilot project for the use of cameras for the enforcement of bus lanes using both fixed roadside cameras and mobile cameras mounted on in-service buses. It describes and discusses the technologies considered, the need for bus lane enforcement, the technical, legal and enforcement issues and the next steps in moving towards the implementation of an approved system in London for the prosecution of drivers who contravene bus lanes.
